The sun is still out for some reason and I’m definately not complaining. That mean that we get to enjoy some fashion before the layers come piling on. From the  runways to the streets, checkered coats, blazers and trousers among others are trending in the autumn/ winter 17 season and I am totally here for it! They come in different variations of print such as houndstooth, plaid, Glen check, nails head, tartan, Madras and gingham.

My favourite however is the Glen check, popularly known as the Prince of Wales check.

“I love it for its heritage and irregular printing style, alternating the stripes and crossing patterns gives it an interesting look”.
I found my size 16 Prince of Wales check blazer on a thrifting expedition, its by the brand St. Michaels, if you didn’t know, St Michael’s was a brand that was used by Marks and Spencer in the 20th century so this blazer must have a bit of history on it 👌 . As I said earlier, it came in size 16 so even though I liked the “structuredness” the shoulder padding gave to it, the blazer itself was too big for my frame making the shoulder pads  sit in an awkward angle on my shoulders so they unfortunately had to come off. Nonetheless, I loved the oversized look and the double “breastedness” that gave it a men’s tailoring vibe so everything else was great.

A way of to elevate look of this blazer would be to switch the buttons for gold ones which I unfortunately didn’t have the time to do but will be doing that in a later post so keep your eyes peeled for it.
  1. I styled it with a pair of Chelsea boots, black ripped skinny jeans, a chloeesque bag and also cinched the waist in with a belt to give it a relaxed yet put together look. I have tried to link similar items below in case anyone is interested. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any earrings similar to the ones I was wearing so forgive me for that.

  1. I love the styling of this outfit, from the bag, to the shoes to the jeans. This outfit would work well for a variety of reasons and shows off such a fun, fall trend so well.
