1. CHOICE OF FURNITURE
Consider the space you’ve got to work with when choosing furniture. Mirrored or glass furniture gives an illusion of space.
When it comes to furniture, go for pieces that do not necessarily go out of style. Rather make your trendy pieces ornaments and smaller items that are cheaper and can be easily switched around.
2. STYLE AND PURPOSE
In as much as we want our home to look beautiful, we must also consider how practical our decor is. The purpose of a kitchen shelve is to store right? why not let it do just that and even more?
Choose storage that can double as decor as well.
These beautiful canisters look beautiful as well as useful.
Also, carefully choose pieces to display that can bring in some colour and style to your shelf.
3. FOCAL POINT
A gallery wall is a great way to create a focal point in a space. Choose art that are different yet compliment each other to add colour and character.
Ideally, a desk is meant to be clutter free , however for some reason, clutter always creeps it’s way back onto it. A clear work space equals a clear mind and therefore room for productivity. Using a desk with storage will help hide all the junk and keep your workspace looking nice. Choose decor that are simple and not too distracting.
Don’t be scared to be eclectic . Pick and mix modern and antique pieces to add class and character to your decor.
I know its just design, but trust me there is a math to it. When decorating a shelf, try to play with different heights and shapes to bring in some dimension.
7. MAKE IT YOUR OWN
Inject a bit of yourself into your decor. Find a spot and make it your own. If you are going all girly like in the photo below, try and add something unexpected for example some greenery or a vintage piece to break it up a bit.
