Sometimes our brains get so crowded with stuff that we lose ourselves in the process. We decide that there’s no need fighting or resisting. We just allow ourselves to wallow in our misery, our confusion, our pain and our dissatisfaction. This brings us little to no joy, but every now and then there are glimpses of our past selves appearing and reappearing in our mind’s eye, reminding us of who we are and where we ought to be. At that point, we either just allow ourselves to sink because we feel that we’re too deep down the ocean of misery to even bother to swim ashore, or we garner the strength to rise above all odds. Grab a Hold of Yourself and Rise!
Even when loved ones remind us of how amazing we truly are, we’d rather listen to that small lonely voice that drums in our minds that were not worth it, that all our past achievements are a fluke and that this is who we really are- a literal summary of all the things that we couldn’t achieve. The two more marks that could have given us the first we desired in that paper; the driving test that we have not yet passed; the mothering instincts that we can not share, the inward strengths that we do not have to say ENOUGH ! BE GONE!
On the flip side of the coin, there is peace, joy, laughter, wonderful time with family and friends and a realisation that it does not need to be perfect. It cannot be; it may not be, but most of all what can we be, when we have peace, joy and love abounding in our hearts and around us? Take a leap of faith, Grab a Hold of Yourself and Rise!
